It's resistances and armour and 'single unity-ness' make it a perfect target for 'lore of life' spells like Regrowth with regen and +44% physical resistance, which stacks on top of the 15% ward save for 59% resistance to all physical damage including AP and shield of thorns - for 44% missile resist and 50% more weapon damage.

It's a single model unit, that means it doesn't obstruct lines of sight.

There's a skill that gives it (and demigryphs) a 15% ward save.

(Each attack always does one damage though) Meaning you can get very close to the 'magic' 200, which means almost entirely immune to non AP. But there's tech for more (+15 IIRC?) and Gelt's faction bonus for +10 (and his lord skill for +9) and spells on top (potentially). It has a lot of armour - 160 base is a minimum of 80% DR vs.
